    Advanced Diploma in Entrepreneurship

    The Advanced Diploma in Entrepreneurship at Tshwane University of Technology is designed for aspiring and practising entrepreneurs who want to build, grow, or revitalise ventures in complex, fast-changing markets. The programme develops advanced capability in opportunity identification, innovation-driven venture creation, and strategic decision-making, grounded in real-world entrepreneurial contexts.

    You will strengthen your ability to advise and support ventures through lean start-up principles, coaching and consulting approaches, and effective knowledge transfer. Core learning also covers entrepreneurial finance and strategic management, enabling you to make sound commercial decisions, evaluate risk, and develop sustainable growth pathways. Alongside this, professional and personal development supports leadership, communication, and resilience. A dedicated research methodology stream equips you to engage with scientific literature and apply ethical, fit-for-purpose qualitative and quantitative research designs to solve entrepreneurial problems and inform strategy.

    Requirements and Opportunities

    Admission requirements

    To apply for this qualification, a student must have:

    • A National Diploma or Diploma in Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or any other equivalent qualification at NQF Level 6 with a minimum of 360 credits.

    AND

    • Students should have completed a module in entrepreneurship or management at NQF Level 6.

    To successfully complete your online qualification, you will need:
    • A laptop or desktop computer
    • A stable internet connection
    • To be computer literate

    Modules & Credits

    Fees are paid per module. The programme will be completed over two years. Compulsory modules - 120 credits

    Fees are subject to an annual increase.

    Advanced Business Advising A

    Develops advanced business-advising capability with an emphasis on lean start-up principles, knowledge transfer, and practical coaching, consulting and counselling approaches. Students strengthen analytical thinking and decision-making for real advising contexts.

    Advanced Business Advising B

    Builds on advanced business-advising practice by applying lean start-up approaches and structured knowledge transfer in advisory engagements. Learners refine coaching, consulting and counselling skills while improving analytical judgement and decision-making.

    Entrepreneurial Finance

    Credit: 15
    Explores financial management for entrepreneurial ventures, including funding options, financial planning and performance assessment. The module develops advanced analytical skills to support sound financial decisions in start-up and growth contexts.

    Entrepreneurial Strategy

    Module Fees: R7,070
    Credit: 15
    Focuses on formulating and implementing entrepreneurial strategy using advanced analysis and decision-making tools. Students examine competitive positioning, growth choices and strategic execution in new and emerging ventures.

    Innovation and sustainable new venture creation

    Examines innovation-driven and sustainable approaches to creating new ventures. Learners apply advanced analysis and decision-making to design viable business models and develop strategies that balance growth with responsible, sustainable practice.

    Professional and Personal Development

    Strengthens professional effectiveness through communication, leadership, conflict management, and time and stress management. The module supports reflective practice and develops analytical decision-making for workplace and entrepreneurial settings.

    Research Methodology A

    Introduces scientific research literature, core qualitative and quantitative designs, and research ethics. Learners build a foundation for defining a research problem and selecting an appropriate, ethically sound design to meet the intended research purpose.

    Research Methodology B

    Module Fees: R7,070
    Credit: 15
    Develops applied research competence by extending engagement with scientific literature, research designs and ethics. Students refine their ability to align a research problem, methodology and ethical considerations to the requirements of the intended study.

    Fees are payable at the start of each module and payment must be received by the payment deadline to successfully register and start the programme.
